Ullapool has a range of restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, Live entertainment, museum & library, sea fishing, loch fishing, deer stalking, car hire & cycle hire, ferry to Stornoway and boat cruises. Ullapool Leisure Centre The facility is located in the Heart of Ullapool and is ideally situated for local and visitors alike. Ullapool is the largest populated village on the North West Coast of the Highlands and also offers a good base for visitors to stay and there is little doubt that the facilities of the Leisure Centre go a long way to helping Ullapool maintain this. The main route to the north end of the Western Isles is via the car ferry that links Ullapool to Stornoway. There are two return trips each day, with three on certain days during peak periods. Ullapool offers Flyfishing, bait fishing, bank or boat, salmon, trout, rainbows, Loch or Sea. Ullapool is ideal for amateurs and experts. You can purchase fishing permits for many lochs around the Ullapool Area. These can be purchased at local shops in the village. This is a very picturesque nine-hole course with a touch of links and moorland to it. It was opened in 1998 by Prince Andrew and has since gone form strength to strength. With great views of the Loch Broom and the Summer Isle it meanders down to the shores of Loch Broom. The par three, 4th is one the course's highlights as your tee shot must clear think gorse bushes while steering clear of the beach. The village of Ullapool is a popular holiday destination and is home to some friendly bars, restaurants, hotels and guest houses. There are many walks in the Ullapool area to suit everyone including mountains, rocky coasts and long inland footpaths. The choice of mountains to climb is numerous and the area has some of the finest summits in the North-Western Highlands. There are a few good runs local to Ullapool if you are staying over for a couple of days and want to see more of the surounding area. Ullapool is an ideal base from which to explore the Highlands.
