Attractions to Ullapool

Ullapool has a range of restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, Live entertainment, museum & library, sea fishing, loch fishing, deer stalking, car hire & cycle hire, ferry to Stornoway and boat cruises.

Ullapool Leisure Centre

Lochbroom Leisure and Ullaspool are a joint Highland Council and community funded facility for the benefit of all the people of Ullapool, Lochbroom Coiach and the surrounding areas.

The facility is located in the Heart of Ullapool and is ideally situated for local and visitors alike. Ullapool is the largest populated village on the North West Coast of the Highlands and also offers a good base for visitors to stay and there is little doubt that the facilities of the Leisure Centre go a long way to helping Ullapool maintain this.

Ferry Stornoway Lewis

The main route to the north end of the Western Isles is via the car ferry that links Ullapool to Stornoway. There are two return trips each day, with three on certain days during peak periods. Sunday observance is strong on Lewis and the ferry only operates from Monday to Saturday. For current timetable and fare information, and for bookings, visit CalMac's website.

Fishing

Ullapool offers Flyfishing, bait fishing, bank or boat, salmon, trout, rainbows, Loch or Sea. Ullapool is ideal for amateurs and experts. You can purchase fishing permits for many lochs around the Ullapool Area.  These can be purchased at local shops in the village. 

At present there is no organised sea fishing from Ullapool  Harbour.  A short drive north of Ullapool there is Boat Hire for Sea fishers at Ardmair caravan park.

Golfing

This is a very picturesque nine-hole course with a touch of links and moorland to it. It was opened in 1998 by Prince Andrew and has since gone form strength to strength. With great views of the Loch Broom and the Summer Isle it meanders down to the shores of Loch Broom.

The par three, 4th is one the course's highlights as your tee shot must clear think gorse bushes while steering clear of the beach. The village of Ullapool is a popular holiday destination and is home to some friendly bars, restaurants, hotels and guest houses.

Hillwalking

There are many walks in the Ullapool area to suit everyone including mountains, rocky coasts and long inland footpaths. The choice of mountains to climb is numerous and the area has some of the finest summits in the North-Western Highlands.
In Ullapool itself, there is the Ullapool Hill Walk, which starts just beside our house.

Motorcyclists

There are a few good runs local to Ullapool if you are staying over for a couple of days and want to see more of the surounding area.

There are many more routes you can take form Ullapool. You can also check out www.bestbikeroads.com and select the highlands and you will see all of the roads that have been reviewed. These are just short routes, Ullapool is a great location for touring the Highlands and going down Sky. ....that's just a little of what Ullapool has to offer.
